The Urban U40 automatic calf feeder has been developed as a top range model for larger farms. It is the only model which has a closed loop. Thus suction hoses, mixing bowl and whole milk heat exchanger etc can be cleaned entirely automatically.
The closed loop means that milk at the correct temperature is always available for drawing down from the teat. This means that a manual drinking aid can therefore be dispensed with. The U40 injects the liquid medicine directly into the suction line.
Pressing a button allows milk at the correct temperature (e.g. for calves in outside boxes) quickly and simply drawn from a milk drain tap. The Urban U40 can supply two stations with up to 60 (2 x 30) calves.
Mixing bowl heating as standard
All Urban mixing bowls have a heating system, even in their basic versions. In the U40 top model the mixing bowl and thus also the feed milk is kept to the correct temperature by means of a water bath heater. This means the mixing bowl has a constant temperature. Other types of feeder systems can cool down between times, which results in the heated water immediately cooling down a little. If the precise desired temperature is not reached then of course the powder may not dissolve properly.

Stainless steel as standard
All the metal parts in the Urban computer controlled calf feeders are made from stainless steel. You’re always on the safe side with stainless steel. They are easier to clean and last longer. This is where Urban makes the difference. The stainless steel parts are specially important when it comes to the feeding station since these are sited below in the excrement and are therefore strongly exposed to corrosion.
Precise measurement of the amount of any remaining milk
All Urban calf feeders measure the precise amount of remaining milk which a calf has not drunk. This means the farmer can immediately see how much milk a calf has not drunk. Other feeder systems only measure whether the container is full or empty. Further the milk in the heated mix container stays at the temperature level whilst other systems feed the next calf with milk which has cooled down.
Trend-setting cleaning
All Urban calf feeders have an automatic mixing bowl cleaning with alternating acid and alkaline detergent. For whole milk operation a stainless steel heat exchanger with a fully automatic cleaning system with detergent (acid/alkaline) are built in as standard.
The machine learns to recognise calves
Each calf has its own individual drinking speed. Urban automatic calf feeders record and store this characteristic for each calf. The alarm is set off only when a particular calf deviates from its own drinking speed by a specified amount. This helps to significantly reduce the number of false alarms.
